Set Up eRemote HA AC

Prerequisites

Before starting, please ensure that your air conditioner remote control is a 38KHz-based infrared (IR) remote.

Steps

  1. Open the LinknLink app and navigate to the eRemote HA page.
  2. Click the + button in the top-right corner of the page. This will guide you to the device addition page.
  3. On the next page, select the Air Conditioner option.
  4. Our air conditioner remote panel supports both HA (Home Assistant) and non-HA types. If you want to control your air conditioner remote panel via MQTT or HA, you can select the Add for HA option. Note: You can create only one IR device per type due to the device's limited storage capacity.

  1. You can enter your air conditioner brand in the search box at the top. Then, follow the instructions in the app to download the matching air conditioner.

Note:

1) The code data for the air conditioner is quite large. When you find your air conditioner model and successfully match it to download and add the panel, it is expected to take around 50 seconds. Please be patient.

2) If the air conditioner remote panel matched via the red code is unable to control certain functions of your air conditioner properly, you can use the IR Learning feature to relearn specific buttons and resolve the issue.

If Cannot Find Brand

  1. If you cannot find your air conditioner brand in the list, you can create a blank air conditioner remote panel by clicking Cannot find my brand. Learn remote now. After creating the panel, it will be empty, so you will not be able to control your air conditioner immediately.
  2. To enable the remote panel to control your air conditioner, you need to click the ... icon in the top-right corner and select the IR Learning function. This will allow you to learn and copy the signals from your physical air conditioner remote.

  1. You can follow the on-screen wizard to manually learn the IR codes using your physical remote.

Note: The air conditioner remote panel created through the Cannot find my brand. Learn remote now option comes with many pre-set function buttons. However, if you do not manually learn and copy the signals from your physical air conditioner remote, these buttons will not be able to control the air conditioner. Therefore, we recommend learning and copying as many remote signals as possible to ensure full functionality and an optimal user experience.

2. More Guides

Update eRemote to eRemote HA

If you own an eRemote, you can update its firmware to transform it into an eRemote HA. Please read the following notices and instructions carefully before proceeding with the update.

Important Notices

1 Unavailability Of BLE Hub Feature

Updating your eRemote to the eRemote HA version will disable the BLE hub feature - so all BLE accessories (BLE door sensor, TH sensor and BLE remotes) won't connect after firmware update.

If you want to rollback the firmware, please refer to: Rollback eRemote HA to eRemote

2 Supported IR Categories

Currently, our eRemote HA version supports importing the following most frequently used categories into Home Assistant (HA): TV, Air Conditioner, Set Top Box, Media Box, BD/DVD and Lamp. When adding IR remote for these categories, you will see an option page where you can choose Add for HA or Add for APP.

If you do not see the HA or APP option page, it means the current category may not yet be supported by HA. We will support them in the future as soon as possible.

3 Number Of IR Devices Addable

Due to the different mechanism compared to normal IR control, the IR codes for HA will be stored on the device rather than on the phone for local control purposes. Since device storage is very limited, we have to restrict the number of IR devices that can be added for HA: only one device per category. For example, if you have already added a TV for HA, you will not be able to add another TV for HA, but you can still add TVs for the app. This limitation usually will not affect real-world use, as IR control is typically confined to a specific room because IR cannot pass through walls to other rooms, and generally there will be only one appliance per category in a room.

4 Backup And Restoration Recommended

Updating eRemote to eRemote HA will erase all previous data on device and reset it.

If you have IR devices added to eRemote, you can back up your existing IR devices and restore them to the new eRemote HA. But these restored IR devices are not compatible with HA. If you want to sync them with HA, you still need to create new IR devices for HA from scratch.

How To Update Legacy eRemote To eRemote HA

  1. Go to the device page, click on the ... menu > Settings > Firmware Update > URL, then paste the following URL: http://eufirmware.linklinkiot.com/firmware/RM_HA-61317-8720-BL-3311.upd.bin

  1. You may see a firmware update failure message. Do not worry, this is normal. The eRemote HA firmware update process requires a complete removal of previous settings, resetting the device to factory mode.

  1. If the device's LED indicator flashes intermittently, it means the firmware update was successful and the device has been reset. Please proceed to STEP 3 of Setup Instruction to reconnect the device to the network. If the device's LED indicator does not flash, it means the firmware update has failed. Please return to the device settings page and check either Device Info or Firmware Update to verify if the firmware is still the old version.

Rollback eRemote HA to eRemote

Updating your eRemote to the eRemote HA version will disable the BLE hub feature - so all BLE accessories (BLE door sensor, TH sensor and BLE remotes) won't connect after firmware update.

If you decide to give up support for Home Assistant and continue using BLE connectivity, you can manually roll back the firmware using this URL:
